What is FEMMA-S?

Dr. Maercks has developed FEMMA-S, a unique breast reduction technique to achieve aesthetic goals that cannot be addressed conventionally. In this technique, the natural appearance of a supported breast is achieved without an implant. The patient will have beautiful projection and cleavage using nothing their very own tissue. This method is a result of Dr. Maercks being dissatisfied with conventional techniques for the breast lift procedure, which lift the breast tissue yet leave behind scars and also tend to create an unnatural, flat, and often square-looking appearance.

Dr. Maercks’s FEMMA-S breast reduction technique provides beautiful results with well-hidden scars and an attractive augmented appearance, even in the most ptotic and deflated large breasts. No implants are used in this method — only the natural tissue of the breast. There is also no anchor scar, which many patients don’t want. In addition, FEMMA-S utilizes the sling of the pectoralis major muscle, which provides a great amount of support.

What is the Scarless Breast Lift?

Dr. Maercks also a new type of breast augmentation procedure called Cold Subfascial Breast Augmentation©. Also called the “Scarless Breast Lift”, this procedure allows patients with pendulous breasts and flatter, elongated breasts to achieve the appearance of a lifted breast without a scar, as the entire procedure can be performed through a small incision in the armpit.

This technique creates the most natural-looking results, with optimal longevity. Combining art, aesthetic sensibilities, and anatomical knowledge, Dr. Maercks developed this technique to provide supported, long-term control of breast shape and cosmetic appearance. In Cold Subfascial Breast Augmentation, the fascia (a thin layer of strong tissue within the breast) is elevated off the pectoralis major muscle, and the implant is placed inside this strong layer, which acts almost like a bra inside the breast. Not only does placing the implant within the fascia provide extra support; it also allows Dr. Maercks to customize the shape of the breasts to fit the patient’s unique chest wall. Instead of an “implant shape” to the breasts, it appears much more natural and harmonious with the patient’s body.
