Transgender Surgery in Miami – From Male to Female (MTF)

Gender reassignment surgery may also be known as gender confirming surgery or sex reassignment surgery. The ultimate goal of the procedure is to change the patient’s body so that the identity matches the appearance. Here at the Maercks Institute, we are proud to offer transgender surgery – from male to female – in our office in Miami. Here, you have access to state of the art technology, world class care and the resources necessary to support you through what can be an emotional time.

Patients typically opt for gender reassignment surgery when they suffer from social dysphoria, physical dysphoria, or both conditions. In addition to transsexuals, any individual that was born male at birth, but identifies as feminine or female is a strong candidate for MTF surgery.

Social dysphoria is defined as a strong discomfort in how others see an individual, while physical dysphoria is a strong discomfort in the mismatch between the physical body and the identity. Whether you suffer from one or both of these conditions, we are here to help with our transgender surgery. We are here to ensure that what you feel inside matches how you look outside.

Male to Female Vaginoplasty

The Maercks Sexual Reassignment Vaginoplasty involves a state of the art sensation preserving creation of a self lubricating neovagina with maximal depth and a fully sensate neoclitoris with extended mucosal flaps and MACIE labiaplasty style labia majora and minora sculpting with structural fat grafting to ensure the most beautiful feminine form for male to female transformation.

Breast Augmentation and Transgender Surgery

This procedure is designed to create breasts that produce a more feminine physique. Hormone therapy may first be used to enlarge the breasts, but when this treatment option fails, many turn to breast augmentation to achieve the full, round breasts that project from the chest.

Female breast tissue is very similar to male breast tissue, so the process used is very similar to a typical breast augmentation surgery. Typically, the procedure is performed under anesthesia on an outpatient basis, and can be done in just under an hour.

Implant types may vary in textures, shapes and sizes, and choosing the right one is a matter of deciding what is right for your individual situation. Here at the Maercks Institute, we offer both silicone and saline implants to our transgender patients:

  • Silicone: A cohesive silicone gel is used to fill an outer silicone shell. These are often referred to as gummy bear implants, and newer products offer decreased risks and better safety.
  • Saline: A silicone shell is filled with a saltwater solution, and implants are filled after they are placed in the body.

Patients may also choose between textures or smooth implants, or anatomically shaped or round implants. Getting the look you want is the most important outcome, and we can help you choose the right implants for what you hope to achieve. Implants may also be placed through incisions in several different areas on the body, and we will help you decide during your consultation where your incisions should be placed.

The procedure is started with an incision that is used to place the implant. Most patients prefer an incision site around the nipple (on the areola) because the scarring is less visible, but there are other options available. Once the incision is made, the saline or silicone implant is placed through the incision site, typically underneath the muscle for reduced chances of rippling and a more natural look. Once the implants are properly placed, the incision site is closed with sutures.

After surgery, patients typically report some discomfort and swelling, which is easily controlled with pain medication. While you may notice a chance in breast sensation right after surgery, this issue is typically resolved within just a few weeks. Most patients resume normal activities just a few days after the procedure.

Removing Loose Silicone From Breast Area

As plastic surgery becomes more popular, and people all over the world desire to look a certain way that may not be feasible for their body type, the risks of dangerous and illegal techniques rises. Patients may turn to an individual without the right credentials, known as a pumper, for loose silicone injections in the body in places that require an augmentation. Unfortunately, this substance may migrate to the rest of the body and cause scarring, infection, disfigurement, and even possible death.

We are happy to keep the industry professional and classy, and help you if you have run into this problem with your body. We remove loose silicone from the breast area, and perform a breast augmentation surgery just a few months later to ensure that you effectively and safely get the larger, more natural looking breasts you want without the risks that come from less than ideal procedures.

Brazilian Butt Lift and Transgender Surgery

During this procedure, fat is removed from the body where it is not wanted, and placed on the rear end in order to add curves to your figure. The fat is purified and transplanted after removal to plump the buttock area. This gives MTF patients the slimming look of femininity while also enhancing curves that create a female appeal.

Rhinoplasty Feminized

As you undergo the procedures for your MTF transition surgery, we use specialized techniques in order to feminize your rhinoplasty and make your face look more feminine. We narrow the nasal bone, decrease the entire nose size or the nostrils, refine the tip of the nose and improve the nasal profile during your surgery. We’ll help you achieve the feminine, delicate look you want on a formerly masculine face.
