Lip Augmentation in Miami, FL
Lip augmentation adds volume to lips that are thin and dull. The procedure can also plump up a pout that has thinned over time with an injectable solution of either collagen or hyaluronic acid. Lip augmentation isn’t just used to plump the lips; it can also be used to rejuvenate the mouth area or smooth out lips.
The injectable solution can be made from several different products, including:
- Facial implants
Dr. Maercks looks at each patient individually to determine which treatment and product is right for the situation. Here at The Maercks Institute, we are committed to creating a specialized plan tailored for each patient for optimal results.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Typically, injectable dermal filler is used for lip augmentation. In order to numb the area, Dr. Maercks may use numbing cream or a dental block. Once numbness is achieved, filler is injected into the targeted area. Dr. Maercks takes special care to preserve the natural look of the lips while filling out the size and shape. After the injection, the area is massaged in order to smooth out the product and distribute it evenly.
Injections may be made in more than one area. Dr. Maercks picks the injection site based on the individual patient, although common spots for injection are the red line (where the dry and wet area of the lips meet) or the white roll (under the nose where the skin meets the lip).
After the Procedure
Swelling, numbness and mild discomfort are common for several hours after the procedure. It is always important to follow your physician’s orders after any procedure to avoid complications and ensure optimal results. Movement of the area should be minimized and bruising may last for 7 days after treatment. Final results are noticeable 2-3 days later, and your results should last for anywhere from 3-6 months.
