Laser Vein Treatment in Miami, FL

Dr. Maercks uses ClearScan YAG to treat broken capillaries, vascular lesions, visible vessels, spider veins and any discoloration of the skin. Treatment is tailored to the individual, and laser energy is used to get the desired outcome on the chest, legs, neck and face, although any area of the body can be treated.

ClearScan YAG is used to treat many conditions, including:

  • Spider veins
  • Facial veins
  • Telangiectasia
  • Facial veins
  • Redness
  • Rosacea
  • Broken capillaries

These visible vascular structures are removed from the outer layer of the skin as they are preferentially heated with laser energy. Skin tone and color are restored, and you can enjoy the way your skin looks again.

Patients with spider veins and varicose veins on the skin are ideal for laser vein treatment. Small, superficial vessels are quickly treated. Ideal candidates are non-smoking, physically healthy individuals that desire to improve their appearance.

What to Expect

The eyes are always protected during treatment with safety glasses or shields, as laser energy is used to treat areas on the body. Patients often notice a brief hot or warm sensation at the areas that are being targeted, although discomfort is minimal. This procedure can last anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the individual patient. Dr. Maercks will discuss your options with you for pain management should they be necessary.

Laser energy is applied through the skin to penetrate the vessel and target the pigment in the blood. The laser does not affect the surrounding tissue, only the targeted vein. The heat inside the vessel causes larger veins to collapse and smaller veins to close.

After Treatment

Veins become less noticeable or disappear during the 4-6 weeks post-treatment. Patients may notice minor swelling or bruising around treated areas, and the skin may be red for several days after treatment. Patients are often given special compression stockings to increases the chances of a successful procedure and to minimize swelling after treatment.

Skin may turn pink after treatment, but any discoloration fades quickly. The body will reabsorb the damaged vessels over time during the natural cleansing process. Blood is removed from small capillaries instantly, making them almost invisible immediately after treatment.

Patients may require more than one treatment, depending on the severity of the condition and the desired results. Possible risks of the procedure include pain, thrombosis, epidermal damage, matting, or hyperpigmentation.

After any procedure, it is essential that the patient follow the doctor’s instructions. Patients may be given skin care products to treat the area, and the skin must be protected from direct sunlight. Healing time depends on the treatment and the severity of the condition, although recovery downtime is rare.
